Proof that you were born with what you need...

or perhaps just proof that hairdressing was never an option for me. (Of course, I should have known that when I was 18 and a bf asked me to cut his hair... I tried to convince him it was a bad idea but he ended up having to fully shave his head anyway. He probably deserved it, all things considered. But I digress.)

I've always known I wouldn't make a great blond. My eyebrows are practically black and I have very, very pale skin. But I do have some red highlights and I have experimented with all kinds of non-typical colours. Orange, however, is NOT my colour:

Can I just say, in my defense, that the package looked like this:
and not like the hideousness illustrated above? (Just so I don't get sued: Do not blame Loreal for the hideousness. It was entirely my own lack of hairdressing skills that got me into that mess.)

So I decided (after living like that for the last 3 days) that I would fix it. So I bought a box of dark brown (no fancy names this time!) and covered it up. Not exactly "back to normal" - it's still very reddish-purple-y - but definitely not orange anymore:

I AM FREAKING BECAUSE MY HAIR IS JUST LIKE THE FIRST SHOT.

I had it done on Friday and I HATE it.

My fault, I asked for dramatic but STILL. GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting ready to use a box of hair color on my hair because I am too lazy and cheap to go have it done.

Now, I'm scared!

Are you related to my daughter? She's dyed her hair red, pink, and blue (Separate events, Thank the Lord) and finally dyed it black to cover up her exuberance for color. Sometimes its just cheaper to pay a lot to get it done professionally!!!

Wait. I have a friend to had her hair dyed well bleached blond in a salon, but when the hair dresser washed the dye/bleach out it was ORANGE. A big mass of orange hair with the consistency of cotton candy. She didn't go out of the house until I got my hairdresser to go to her house and "fix" it.

The moral appears to be leave your hair color alone, but I have not followed that rule for over 20 years. I have no idea what my natural color is.

OMG I just had a terrible flashback to when I used that same product and ended up with screaming orange hair. Of course I had to go to work the next day. That was around four years ago in January - can't believe that shite is still on the market :) Nice fix though - I like the second color on you.
